Hemingway Editor is a web-based writing editor with a Classic (free) version and a Plus (premium) version. The Classic editor performs client-side readability analysis using Automated Readability Index (ARI) scoring to flag hard-to-read sentences, passive voice, adverbs, and weak phrases. Hemingway Editor Plus layers AI capabilities on top — including grammar correction, inline fix suggestions, and tone adjustment — delivered through a browser interface with no API currently exposed. Free standalone tools (grammar checker, paraphrasing tool, AI proofreader, readability checker) are also available on the platform.
