Architecture

Capacities is a hosted SaaS application with native desktop and mobile clients. There is no local-first or self-hosted deployment option. Data is stored on GDPR-compliant, encrypted servers in certified EU data centers operated by Capacities Labs GmbH.

Core Concepts

Objects: Typed entities (Person, Book, Project, Meeting, etc.) with structured properties. Each object type can have custom fields.
Bidirectional Links: Inline [[wikilink]]-style references that auto-generate backlinks on both objects.
Related Content: An automated scan that detects unlinked mentions and contextual proximity across your notes, surfacing implicit connections.
Daily Notes: A chronological inbox integrated with the object graph — entries here can be promoted to or linked from any object.

Pro Tier Features (Developer-Relevant)

AI Assistant: In-app AI for drafting, summarizing, and querying across your knowledge base.
Queries: Structured filtering/querying of objects by property values — similar to database views.
Calendar integration: Surface time-bound objects alongside calendar events.

Data Portability

Full export to standard formats is always available regardless of plan, ensuring no vendor lock-in.

Note: No public API or webhook system is documented at this time. Capacities is primarily a consumer/prosumer application without programmatic access.
