Open WebUI is an open-source, self-hosted web interface designed to act as a universal frontend for large language models. It supports connections to Ollama for local model inference as well as any OpenAI-compatible API endpoint, including OpenAI and Anthropic directly. The platform is extensible through Python pipelines and custom functions, enabling developers to build RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) workflows, web search integrations, and tool-calling agents. For enterprise deployments, it ships with SSO, role-based access control (RBAC), and audit logging, and can be installed with a single pip install open-webui command.
